Chinese cuisine is definitely my fav. I’ve been cooking a lot of dishes but haven’t been preparing much drinks these days. So today, I preppped Black Gulaman Drink. Since I bought the canned version of the Grass Jelly, this drink is easy to prep.
Maybe, I’ll try the other version in the future. I love drinking this! It has been a long time and this one is yummy! I initially wanted to put 2 teaspoons of banana extract. I’m glad I tried it with 1 teaspoon first, else, this almost 2 liters of drink would taste awful haha!
Black Gulaman Drink
- 3 Cups water
- 2 Cups brown sugar
- 540 Grams Grass Jelly chopped into very small cubes
- 1.5 Liters cold water
- 3/4 Tsp banana extract
First, make the syrup. In a saucepan, boil 3 cups of water. Then add the brown sugar. Stir continuously until sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat and let cool.
In a big pitcher, place the 1.5 liter cold water.
Add the syrup then add the chopped black Gulaman.
Place a few drops of banana extract (about 3/4 teaspoon).
Stir the drink well. Serve with ice or as is. Enjoy!
