It’s a brand new year! Happy 2020 everyone!
I’m thankful that we have an opportunity to start fresh. For me, it’s always January 1, the 1st day of a new year.
I have been over-committing to my goals for the past 2 years. So with 2020, I’m going to take that lesson and have goals I know I can realistically achieve as long as I work on them & don’t lose focus.
I have a 2019 year in review, if you’re interested in my goal progress for last year.
My theme for 2020 is embracing happiness.
I have a bit of a mental health breakdown last year and I don’t ever want to go back to that state ever again. As I was reflecting on the year that passed, I made a promise to myself that I’ll take control of my life and not let the cruelty of the world take me down. Thus, the theme – embrace happiness.
Home Declutter & Organization
This is a huge one considering how OC I am and how I have so many things lying around the condo. I’m quite sure this will take me one whole year to complete. And I have a super big project plan related to this. Apart from physically decluttering and organizing all my stuff at home, I’m also organizing and putting them in my online database. So while some people only need a weekend to clean their home, for me, it’ll take ages.
As they say, if you have an organized and decluttered space, your mood automatically lifts up. This is a huge goal that will contribute to my overall happiness.
Save up & Spend wisely
For the longest time, I have been doing retail therapy. Due to retail therapy, I haven’t been saving much. I intend to change it this year. I’m deliberately setting aside a big chunk of my earnings for savings. I’m also taking some serious budgeting this time around.
Build & Nurture Relationships
I’ve spent way too much time with myself last year, hahaha! This 2020, I need to put myself out there. Spend time with friends, meet new friends and nurture those relationships.
On the other hand, I’m staying away from people who are toxic (i.e., extremely privileged people who are very mean & has zero empathy). I’m leaving those people in the past.
Self-Care
Self-care means taking care of oneself whether it’s in the mind, body or soul. In my case, I’m focusing on the following:
- sleeping between 6-9 hours. My goal stretch is to be able to sleep and wake up at the same time.
- strive to meet 1,300 daily calorie limit goal.
- Drink at least 2 liters of water everyday.
- take vitamins daily.
- Take care of my gut by staying away from dairy, gluten and grains as much as I can.
- stay away from junk food, soda, powdered juices and processed food as much as I can.
- use the stairs as much as I can.
- maintain my ideal weight of 110 pounds by following the good eating habits I set.
I’m very hopeful this year. Considering I had sad and challenging 2017-2019, I’m claiming that 2020 will be my happy year.
