I honestly don’t know why it’s called Pesang Manok. But it should mean nilagang manok. I love this soup! It’s a little different from Chicken Tinola because of some ingredients. Both of those chicken soups are delicious though! So if you haven’t tried cooking Pesang Manok, now is the time to experiment! 😊
Whenever I eat, I somehow always crave for a soup. So expect a lot more soup recipes to come!
Pesang Manok
Ingredients
- 1.5 kilos chicken cut into serving pieces
- 6 cups water
- 1 piece onion quartered
- 2 pieces thumb-sized ginger minced
- 1/2 tsp peppercorns
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 pieces potatoes quartered
- 1 bunch bok choy (pechay) cut into pieces
- 1 piece napa cabbage cut into pieces
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Instructions

In a large pot, add chicken and water. set heat into medium. bring to a boil.

remove scum that floats.

when broth has cleared up, add onions, ginger, peppercorns and fish sauce.

cover the pot and simmer for 25 minutes.

add potatoes and cook for another 10 minutes.

add bok choy and napa cabbage and cook for another 3 minutes.

season with salt and pepper.

serve and enjoy!
