For the longest time, I’ve been delaying trying out recipes with dried anchovies. I have no escape now since I ran out of Napa Cabbage recipes to try. So tada, it’s Soybean Paste Soup with Cabbage. I assure you after trying out this soup, I’m gonna try and try more anchovies recipes, it’s that good!
There are only a few ingredients in this dish but even if it looks kinda plain, the flavors are plenty! This is a good soup to match with your meal spread if you’re running out of time 😊
Soybean Paste Soup with Cabbage
- 1 Piece Napa cabbage chopped
- 1/3 Cup soy bean paste
- 6 Cloves garlic minced
- 1 Piece green chili pepper sliced diagonally
- 10 Pieces dried anchovies heads & guts removed then placed in a a soup broth pouch
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 6 Cups water
In a big pot, blanch chopped Napa cabbage in boiling water for a minute. Drain right after and set aside. Remove all water from the pot.
In the same pot over medium heat, place the blanched cabbage.
Add soy bean paste, garlic, green chili pepper, dried anchovies pouch & flour.
Mix all ingredients super well together. This is important.
Add water and bring to a boil for 20 minutes.
Lower heat then simmer the soup for 10 minutes.
Serve into bowls and enjoy!
