After watching the Golden Globes, I tasked myself to watch the movies nominated in the award ceremony. Since I’m a big fan of Jennifer Lopez, the first movie I caught on was Hustlers.
Hustlers centers around Destiny who works as a stripper and when she met Ramona, a top money earner in the stripper world, Destiny’s life changed forever. Ramona taught her how to get her way around wealthy wall street clients who frequenters the strippers club. But when the 2008 financial crisis came, Ramona, Destiny and the other girls have to devise a scheme in order to get their lives back.
Jennifer Lopez was so great in the film! I was actually quite disappointed she didn’t get the win in the Golden Globes. It was good to see familiar faces in the film like Lily Reinhart, Lizzo, Cardi B and Julie Stiles. It’s quite surprising to see those ladies show their sexy dance moves. I don’t know but I felt Constance’s acting was a bit flat here. I couldn’t connect to her character like we are supposed to. Maybe it’s just me.
I liked how the movie touched on the lives of strippers. Most people don’t really know strippers in real life and this movie gives us a glimpse on how they live their lives and their struggles. My takeaway from this is no matter what our professions are, what we really want is to provide for our family and for us to be able to survive.
Lesson in Hustlers is that you will always have to pay for the crime/s you committed. There is no excuse in harming other people. You’ll always have to take responsibility for all the things that you do. So we always have to think twice whenever we feel what we are doing is wrong. There will be consequences.. always.
My rating for Hustlers: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars).
