Nanyang

Some time last month I went to SM Aura for an errand, I ended up trying out Nanyang for lunch. I was excited as I remember this place was just renamed and renovated. I used to like the old brand better and I especially liked their noodle soup before. It wasn’t available anymore in the rebranded Nanyang but I was still super excited to try out other food there.

Nanyang

As you enter the restaurant, you won’t be lost as the first thing you’ll see is the counter where you order and pay for your food prior to finding your own seat in the dining area. I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Set with 50% off on one of 3 drinks. I felt it was a good deal and I was pretty hungry then.

Nanyang

Nanyang is situated beside Breadtalk. There I was sitting literally beside the bread counters which smelled wonderfully!

So here was my order: Hainanese Chicken Set (PHP 268) with 50% off on Iced Honey Lemon (PHP 60). Looks like a super complete meal! I was excited to dig in when this was served.

Let me start first with the Hainanese Chicken Set…

Nanyang

It has soup…

Chicken-flavored rice which is tasty in itself!

Bok Choy… I’m just so glad they threw it in there… always love to have veggies with my meal 😃

Nanyang

Then the Hainanese Chicken itself. It’s a generous serving and I was still able to finish everything, hehe! It was a very good Hainanese chicken, I would recommend you to order this when you visit Nanyang.

Nanyang

Nanyang included 3 different sauces for us to use with the chicken. They are ginger, sweet soy and chili sauce. The ginger has got to be my choice among the three.

While I enjoyed the food I ordered in Nanyang, I despised/hated/disliked the Iced Honey Lemon… I couldn’t even describe its taste. This is the first time that I couldn’t even get past the first sip. It was that bad. I left it there. It was so disappointing considering it was the drink that the server recommended for me among the 3 choices (barley, iced tea and iced honey lemon). I wished I have ordered the iced tea instead, I might have liked it! Oh well…

Not sure how long till I try Nanyang again. If ever, I’ll order the Prawn Laksa soup.
