Finally, You Season 2 is out. After watching the season 1 last year, I couldn’t wait for the continuation of Joe Goldberg’s story. As the lead actor who played Joe always say, we should not admire or romanticize Joe as he’s not a good man. When watching You, we have to keep that in mind.
In You season 2, Joe Goldberg moves to Los Angeles from New York. He did this to put his past behind him and start a new life with a new identity. But then he meets chef Love Quinn and Joe begins to fall back into his old ways of being obsessively in love. As Joe enters a new romantic relationship, he strives to make it right this time and not let the past repeat itself.
We got a new female lead for season 2 and that’s Victoria Pedretti (from the Haunting of Hill House fame). Joe’s ex prior to Beck has a major role in this season as well. Since she was able to survive Joe’s attack, she’s determined to save Joe’s future victims from suffering the same fate as her. As usual, great casting again as everyone in this season was awesome. I actually like Season 2 of You better than season 1.
I liked that You didn’t repeat the story from season 1. Season 2 is entirely a different beast and the twist at the end? That was totally whack! I didn’t even see it coming! So I loved season 2 and I can’t wait what You has for us in season 3.
My takeaway from You season 2 is that why is that when you finally find someone who loves you for who you are and really fits your personality perfectly, you tend to take them for granted. When you realize that someone loves you unconditionally, you start to walk away and fall out of love? I see this happening even in real life, I wonder what’s wrong? And I see that scenario in this You season. Joe is finally in a relationship with someone who loves him for him. What else can he ask for?
More than ever, I can’t wait for the next season of You. And I’m also already adding Haunting of Hill House to my watch list as I enjoyed watching Victoria Pedretti here.
My Rating for You Season 2: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (4 out of 5 stars).
