Edamame Beans Chinese Style

Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg edamame beans
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 pieces star anise
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp whole peppercorns
  • 4 cloves garlic smashed

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the edamame beans using a kitchen scissor.

  2. In a pot, bring water, salt, star anise, soy sauce, whole peppercorns and garlic to a boil.

  3. Once the water boils, bring down to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes.

  4. After 15 minutes, turn up heat to medium and add the edamame beans.

  5. Boil for 5 minutes.

  6. Take the edamame off the pot and strain.

  7. Serve and enjoy!
