I’m happy to know that Netflix has lots of Filipino movies. Now, I do not need to go to the theaters to watch every single one. I can just watch the good quality ones and for the rest, I’ll wait till Netflix features them. So I watched Wild and Free on Netflix recently. And that’s just because I was curious. I wonder if this movie is worth the time…
Wild and Free is about two lovers (Jake & Ellie) who struggled with their passionate relationship over a dark secret that connects their pasts.
It is the first movie I watched of both Derrick Monasterio and Sanya Lopez. Both did their best in the movie. Even the supporting characters were great. However, I just feel the material is lacking. Which makes it hard for the actors to work with. There isn’t chemistry as well between the two leads.
I honestly felt I wasted my time watching Wild and Free. It was very sensual, yes, but that’s about it. Outside of the lovemaking, it was just dry. The coincidence of the girl falling in love with the two brothers, the reaction of the mother, the bad chemistry between the leads and others, I don’t know. It didn’t work for me. I wish they presented the backstory of each character better. The ending was very odd too.
Whenever I write about a movie or TV show that I watched, I always make it a point to write about what I learned. With Wild and Free, let me think about it… uhmmm… I learned that every action people do has a reason. For example, Jake’s mom had her reasons why it looked like she preferred her other son over him. It’s always best to talk things out versus keeping all the pain inside and losing all the time to enjoy/build a good relationship. When Jake and his mom really talked, that’s when their relationship started getting better. Communication really is key.
I don’t think this movie is for the millennials. It’s too sexy for them. Not sure if it’s the right movie for them to learn how to approach relationships. Maybe I’m just too old/traditional to think this way.
My rating for Wild and Free: ⭐️ (1 out of 5 stars).
