So I’ve been having a tough time recently and I haven’t eaten much for over a week now, with the goal of getting back to normal, I went ahead and ate unlimited paluto (eat unlimited freshly cooked food). The nearest mall in my place that has decent restaurant choices is Venice Grand Canal Mall. So there I go…. and ended up with Isla Sugbu Seafood City.
They have an ongoing promo rate of PHP 888 per person. It’s a good deal knowing that we’ll have unlimited servings of freshly cooked seafood! I was so excited to eat lots of crabs and shrimps!
Upon entering, we were given the menu and was asked by the receptionist to wait for someone to assist us. Apparently, the lady will bring a pushcart and put all our orders in that cart to pass them on to the kitchen. But before everything else, she had to explain the mechanics of Isla Sugbu Seafood City.
Very important to remember the following:
- we will be charged PHP 1,450 (instead of the paluto rate) if we have leftover food.
- we cannot take paluto food out.
After the reminder is the most exciting part, looking at the spread, ordering what we want (tell the person number of grams) and sharing how we want to cook the item.
When you’re hungry, you tend to order a lot. That’s a weakness of mine because instead of enjoying the food, I ended up pushing myself to finish everything that we ordered and it really isn’t a good feeling. I have to learn to change my mindset from getting my money’s worth to just eating enough and enjoy the food thoroughly.
I’m a bit disappointed mud crab is not part of Isla Sugbu Seafood City’s Paluto spread. We have to pay extra in order for it to be included plus some more premium seafood and fruits.
We were about to order soup but we were told that there’s also some cooked dishes available for us to get. So there was a mini buffet consisting of sinigang, tinola, rice, pork and some others. I only got the salmon head sinigang because we ordered too much already, haha!
Isla Sugbu Seafood City also has beverages available but you have to pay extra. We got fresh mango juice in a pitcher. It was served like an hour after. We were almost done eating already :/
It takes from 15-30 minutes for our orders to arrive. After all the dishes came, I realized we ordered too much. But what the heck, might as well to eat our heart out!
I was quite disappointed with the chili garlic crab as I thought it was fried with lots of toasted garlic and chili on it. It really looked like Singaporean crab than a fried chili garlic crab. Oh well.
The Scallops with Broccoli is one of the two dishes that I liked from the meal.
Best dish of the night goes to Isla Sugbu Seafood City’s Calamares. This is a must-try dish in the Paluto restaurant 😃
Food was okay in Isla Sugbu Seafood City and I love that we eat dishes that are freshly cooked in the kitchen. The service needs a bit of work though but other than that, a good pleasant dining experience.
