I love using my iPad. Among all my gadgets, my iPad Pro is the one I mostly use. So expect a lot of iPad-application reviews on my website. The first application I’m going to review here and one that I use daily is Blinkist.
Blinkist is an application that gives us a good summary of the best non-fiction books available in the market. I use Blinkist to give me an idea if a non-fiction book is worth to check out and buy. I love reading and my choice of genre is non-fiction so Blinkist is perfect for me.
Blinkist brings you the key ideas from the world’s best nonfiction books in a made-for-mobile format you can read or listen to in 15 minutes. Boost your knowledge and gain new perspectives with the latest ideas in business, self-improvement, psychology, relationships and more.
Whether you’re looking to improve your professional skills or explore new subjects you didn’t know you loved, Blinkist unlocks the world of books to make big ideas accessible to everyone – no matter how busy you are. Our expert editorial team selects the top books in nonfiction from today’s brightest thinkers and crafts them into meaningful, actionable packs of insight you can start using today to become a better you.
When I open the app, the first thing I see is the discover tab where all the available nonfiction books are displayed. They are categorised as “free daily”, “for you”, “curated list”, “trending” and “new”. Since I’m a basic member, I can only access the free book available daily. The “free daily” is the one that I check out everyday.
At first, we get a glimpse on what the book is all about, who are the people that would be best suitable to read the book, who wrote a book and a short introduction about the author. We then get to the blinks where the important points of the book are laid out. We can either have Blinkist read the content for us (listen) or we can opt to just read through the contents (read). The number of blinks is dependent on how much data the book has. But usually we can finish reading blinks within 15 minutes.
At the end of the blinks, we get a final summary where we get key message in the book as well as actionable advice we can follow afterwards.
In the Library tab, we can see all the blinks that we have read. I have been using Blinkist for a long time so I have many books in my Blinkist library. I definitely have applied a lot of lessons in my life and I’m forever thankful for both the book authors and especially Blinkist for laying it out for us. It’s just nice that we get to have a preview on these awesome nonfiction books!
If you’re a Blinkist subscriber, you get to tag books as your favourites as well as highlight some text in the blinks. Since I’m just a basic member, those features are locked for me. 🙃
I really love Blinkist! In just 15 minutes, I get to learn so much and if I want to get more insights, I can just get the book on iBooks or Amazon. There are certainly so much effort put into every set of blinks and I definitely appreciate that. I might just subscribe soon! We can never stop learning! 📚
