I have been wanting to try Metro Cuisines, located in Quezon City, for quite some time now. I’ve noticed their beautiful and unique sign when passing by at night, and I’ve been dying to know if they also serve good food. And a few Sundays ago, I had my chance to dine there early in the morning while waiting for the servicing of my car.
Now, Apple’s engine (Apple is my car) was already very dirty, so I had to take it to Shell Station in Retiro to have it washed. There was just one catch, you usually have to be there as early as 6-7AM as the queue can get soo long and it could take long while waiting for hours before our turn comes. My friend accompanied me and we arrived at around 7AM. I was already #6 I think. I left my car and we went straight to Metro Cuisines which is just a few steps away from Shell.
It’s a good thing that Metro Cuisines opens at 7AM in the morning, as we were able to take our breakfast there. We weren’t able to see the beautiful effect of the signage since it was early morning but I noticed how clean the design was inside. It was all white and the place was well-maintained. It was good that we opted to wait & dine at Metro Cuisines.
My friend ordered from their breakfast menu while I ordered their normal specialty. Here are the details:
- Pork Tocino Breakfast (Php 175)
My friend did let me try the tocino. Boy, it was good! Not too sweet, very tasty, the meat size was just right (not too big, not too thick), easy to chew & yummy! It’s always important for me when it comes to tocino that it is tender and well seasoned. There’s nothing more unsavory than a tocino that is touch and hard to chew. Their tocino breakfast meal does come with garlic rice, egg & coffee. I’ll try this when I go back to Metro Cuisine this Sunday (I’m planning to go to Shell again for car tune up & change oil).
- Singaporean Fish Fillet Rice (Php 185)
Looks yummy? Well it was soooo much more! I was pleasantly surprised how delicious this dish was, not to mention it’s a pretty generous serving too! The dish is fish fillet Singaporean style & I think I already know the difference. The fish is cooked first in what seems to be a very light coating of egg/batter. I guess that’s how Singaporeans cook their fish fillets 😛 You can also eat this with chili but I opted not to. It was already tasty as-is. A must-order, I really recommend this.
- Metro Iced Tea (Php 65)
Well if you haven’t noticed, I really did love Metro Cuisines. I’ll surely go back whenever I have a chance. You’d think the food was all that I adored, well no! Their drinks, I truly loved too! Would you believe even just a simple iced tea of theirs I loved? I do not know their formula but it was definitely not the powdered iced teas (maybe it was but I just can’t tell based on the taste).
- Italian Peach Shake (Php 85)
After finishing our meals and even after finishing my iced tea, I still had an urge to try out their specialty drink, the peach shake. I asked the server if it was fresh peaches, he answered no. While I wanted it to be fresh, I still ordered the drink for the sake of trying it out, and it definitely did not disappoint! It was really really really good! There were equal amounts of peaches & ice, it was refreshing to drink. I loved it!
Best of all, I loved the service. The owners were there and greeted us. The servers were all very accomodating & helpful too. I really just love restaurants who have both good service & good food. I hope Metro Cuisines stays because that will always be my hangout place whenever I go visit Shell station for my car’s usual maintenance activities.
