See that tire? That’s mine :'(
I was driving along Edsa last night when I suddenly heard weird sounds. I ignored it at first and thought that it was just noisy outside and besides my car is an old one. So I thought it was normal.
After awhile, the sound was really getting louder & louder. I already had this gut feeling that I was running flat. Unfortunately though, There was no gas station around.
So I have to drive till I reach a gas station located at Aurota Boulevard. I asked if anyone of them can help me change my tire. One of them did 🙂 I gave the guy Php 100 as an incentive, if not for him, I don’t even know how I will go home with that kind of tire damage.
Now I have a new dilemma. Another suprise expense for me, it seems like I’m spending so much on my car now. The other year I spent 60k on repairs, last year about 20k and this year, I’m just scared, don’t want to even think about it.
Looking at the positive side, I’m safe!!! Imagine driving with that kind of tire? I can easily enter into car accidents but I was safe! Thank God! 🙂
Change all 4 tires, buy 1 more extension tire. And the budget? I’m so dead. :'(

Good thing your rims(mags) are not 17"s I think yours is 14"s. Proper maintenance is the best way to avoid costly repairs. Plus you must have a good mechanic that you can trust and always bring someone who knows about cars when repairing them coz they might over charge you or ask you to replace things that you didn't have to. 😉 one more thing be a member of wheelers or aap if your still not one.

Ey roch those tires reminds me of bembol roco, bald! hahaha. Next time check your tires if the grooves are shallow already, if u stick ur finger between the groove and u can feel the bottom then its time for change. Good thing you're not running on the highway, i dont wanna imagine what could happen

From the look of your tire, you might have been able to save it if you stopped sooner or drove at a slower speed. It seems to have enough thread. The sidewall tore apart due to excessive running while flat. From the pic, I think your wheel is 15 inches. It's going to cost you around P2500 to 3500 per tyre depending on type/model/brand.If your other tyres are still in good condition, you can save a little money by buying "part-worn" tyres as a replacement for the destroyed one. That will delay the need to spend for a whole new set.

That's the main reason why I am hesitant to learn how to drive – ang masiraan sa gitna ng highway. I can't imagine how will I deal with the situation. Baka iwan ko lang ung car ko dun, hayaang mahila ng tow away truck, at magcommute na lang ako pauwi! Oopps! Isa pa nga pala, wala pala akong kotse! Now, that's #2.

Tires must be properly inflated at constant pressure (usually 30 psi). Don't over or under inflate them as it will affect your car's performance and your safety. You should also note the wear and tear of your tires as rubber deteriorates over time.

I feel your pain! Sometimes I wonder if the maintenance and repair expenses of having a car is worth the convenience it brings. Then I take the bus or MRT on my coding days and I realize that it is still worth it. Hehe 🙂
Roch says
yeah… I always reflect on that but whenever I think how hard it is to commute in the Philippines… then the answer is there… it's worth it.
