Ever since I tried the Thai basil ground meat in Thailand, I already knew that I had to cook it at home.. and yes, it’s one of the best dishes IMHO… this Thai Basil Chicken in particular, is full on flavor and spices! I believe doing the chili-garlic paste has to do something with it… but really, this is a favorite!!!
Thai Basil chicken with lots of chilies to boot! Perfect combination! With this, I’m actually interested exploring more on Thai food. So expect to see more Thai dishes in the succeeding post.
Thai Basil Chicken
Ingredients
Garlic-Chili paste
- 8 Cloves garlic
- 8 Pieces bird eye chilies chopped
Sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 4 Tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tsp fish sauce
- 1 Tsp brown sugar
Main Dish
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 500 Grams ground chicken
- 1 Piece yellow onion minced
- 120 Grams green beans chopped
- 1 Bunch basil leaves
- 1 egg cooked sunny side up
Instructions

In a food processor, place bird’s eye chilies and garlic. Pulse for a few seconds till the mixture becomes paste form. Set aside.

In a bowl, combine all sauce ingredients. Ensure that sugar is well dissolved. Set aside.

In a wok, heat oil over high heat.

Add garlic-chili paste and sauté until aromatic.

Add ground chicken and mix well. Saute until chicken is cooked through.

Add sauce and stir with the rest of ingredients.

Add onions and green beans. Combine with the rest and continue to cook for 2 minutes.

Add basil leaves. Toss and sauté for another minute.

Serve with sunny-side up egg on top. Enjoy!
