While I’m a huge fan of Gossip Girl, I started really liking Blake Lively when she married Ryan Reynolds. I enjoy their social media interactions! I also like Blake’s fashion sense. Anna Kendrick is familiar because of the Pitch Perfect series. So when I saw the poster of a Simple Favor, it piqued my interest. I have to watch the movie!
A Simple Favor is about Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively). Stephanie is a mommy blogger who has lost both her husband and brother in an accident. Emily, on the other hand, is a highly private wealthy public relations officer who is a mommy as well. Stephanie and Emily met because of their sons and built a strong friendship bond. They were so close that Stephanie considers Emily her best friend. One day, Emily had a work crisis and she asked Stephanie for a favor to babysit her son. However, several days has passed and Emily is nowhere to be found. Together with Emily’s husband, Stephanie went on a journey to find Emily and in the process, learned about the true identity of Emily.
Both Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively were perfect in their roles! Henry Golding surprisingly fit the Emily husband role as well. I guess without him in Crazy Rich Asians, I wouldn’t even care 😛
I super loved the clothes Blake Lively wore in the movie! I was trying to take some tips on how to dress better by looking at how they were worn. A Simple Favor is more of an eye candy for me. The story is okay but I’m not sure if I liked the ending. The ending felt a little off so I’ll try to read the book to see if the movie followed the same ending.
The lesson I took away from the movie is that not everyone is how they say they are. In real life, I experienced the exact same thing wherein I felt duped by someone who pretended to be a person he’s not. Some people are really good at faking a persona. In the end, we still choose to see the good in people. Let God handle the bad people.
My rating for A Simple Favor: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars).
