There is only one game that I can say is the best game in the whole wide world and that is…. World of Warcraft!
I started playing way way back early 2000 but I somehow couldn’t sustain it. I would play for 2 months and then stop for 6 months. Then, I would go back to playing World of Warcraft again then I would stop again after only a few months. Because of the inconsistency, the highest level that my character got is actually just level 90. Right now, World of Warcraft players can reach level 110.
This is probably my longest hiatus as I stopped playing for 2 years. When I decided to play again this month of May 2017, I totally forgot how to play World of Warcraft anymore! It’s such a shame because I’m such a huge fan of the game. But somehow, life happened.
So for those of you who don’t know, World of Warcraft is a MMORPG by Blizzard Entertainment. It’s a PC game and it’s totally addicting!
Here’s what World of Warcraft is according to Wikipedia:
World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994.[3] World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard’s previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.[4] Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001.[5] The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.
The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007.[6] The second expansion set, Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008.[7] The third expansion set, Cataclysm, was released on December 7, 2010. The fourth expansion set, Mists of Pandaria, was released on September 25, 2012.[8] The fifth expansion set, Warlords of Draenor, was released on November 13, 2014.[9] The sixth expansion set, Legion, was released on August 30, 2016.[10]
With a peak of 12 million subscriptions in October 2010 and Blizzard’s final report of 5.5 million subscriptions in October 2015,[11] World of Warcraft remains the world’s most-subscribed MMORPG,[7][12] and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG by subscribers.[13][14][15][16] In January 2014, Blizzard announced that more than 100 million accounts had been created over the game’s lifetime.
And this is the Warcraft story according to the creators of World of Warcraft:
Orcs & Humans
For ages, the fallen titan Sargeras plotted to scour all life from Azeroth. To this end, Sargeras possessed the human sorcerer Medivh and compelled him to contact Gul’dan, an orc warlock on the world of Draenor. There, Sargeras’ demonic servants among the Burning Legion worked to corrupt the once – peaceful orcs and forge them into a bloodthirsty army known as the Horde. This cursed force invaded Azeroth through the Dark Portal, a dimensional gateway created by Medivh and Gul’dan, and clashed with the human nation of Stormwind. Aided by the half-orc Garona, human champions like Anduin Lothar fought valiantly to protect their kingdom. Yet, in the end, the mighty Horde shattered Stormwind’s defenses. Amid the city’s tragic fall, Garona betrayed her allies and assassinated King Llane Wrynn, sealing the nation’s defeat.
If you’re curious and you want to give World of Warcraft a shot, then you should go to the World of Warcraft website.
In my opinion, if there is one game that you should stick it out, that’s World of Warcraft. 👍🏻👍🏻
Which brings me to my main point in this post. I decided that I will stick it out this time. I may not play as often as I would like but I will not cancel my subscription anymore. If it will only take me 4 times a month to play World of Warcraft, so be it! I just don’t want to keep wasting more time by creating new characters and relearning the game each time I come back from a hiatus.
So there, one of my goals for Year 2017 is for my new character, HeaRtyPH, created May 2017, to reach level 80 by the end of the year. My focus is to enjoy the game and not get too focused on getting ahead or catching up with friends. I will just sit back, relax and enjoy playing World of Warcraft. I mean apart from enjoying the game, playing WoW is a good stress reliever for me. So I will not force myself to get to level 110 or even rush my game.
I’m currently at level 8 and I’m quite proud of myself because that’s actually 2 weeks in the making. If I remember the old me, I would have played the game for hours and hours and reach level 30 in just one day. I guess I matured and learned to prioritize. A game is still a game and I do not earn money from this. However, this keeps me happy and I get to chat with some friends in the game too!
Progress Tracker
MONTH | STARTING LEVEL | ENDING LEVEL |
---|---|---|
May | 1 | 32 |
June | 32 | 72 |
July | 72 | 78 |
August | 78 | 81 (goal achieved!) |
If you play World of Warcraft, let me know! I don’t know much friends who still play so it would be so nice to know friends who enjoy WoW too! 😃
